Lamar Smith, Author of SOPA, said on Friday on a statement that he is pulling off the bill “Until there is wider agreement on a resolution.”

Smith, who is a Texas Republican Congressman in the House of Representatives, said in his statement: ”I have heard from the critics and I take seriously their concerns regarding proposed legislation to address the problem of online piracy. It is clear that we need to revisit the approach on how best to address the problem of foreign thieves that steal and sell American inventions and products.”

About 40 Supporters of the SOPA/PIPA U.S bill, withdrew their support on Wednesday, after online encyclopaedia Wikipedia, and thousand other websites, went “dark” for 24 hours earlier this week in a co-ordinated online protest.

In a Statement, U.S Senator Harry Reid said on friday, “I’ve decided to postpone Tuesday’s vote on PIPA”.
